The time of legends

Sometimes you need to break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, stop and enjoy the moment. At TastingClub, we have spent the beginning of 2015 redesigning the website, making agreements with new interesting suppliers - and not least securing some fabulous wines for the webshop. Of course, this has meant a lot of busyness, but perhaps also less focus on other things, such as our blog.

The other day a wine came through the door that can probably rightly be described as legendary and simply deserves a little extra attention. That's why in the future we will remember to stop by and when we get something exciting through the door, take
a few pictures and share them with you.

La Chapelle neck The wine that triggered this soul-searching is the latest vintage (2012) of the legendary La Chapelle from Paul Jaboulet AÎné. A wine that, along with the equally sought-after 1st crus from Bordeaux, is one of the few true legends in the world of wine.

What makes La Chapelle so special?

La Chapelle is a small single-vineyard wine from the northern Rhône, it is only made in the best years, in the years that are not big enough for a true La Chapelle, its little brother, Petite Chapelle, is produced (which is also a superb wine).

Besides being a superb wine, another factor contributing to the legend is that La Chapelle is one of the few wines to have achieved the magical 100 points from Robert Parker, in the vintages of 1961, 1978 and 1990. The sublime vintage of 1961 is approaching the priceless, with a list price of between 90-100,000 kroner for the few remaining bottles.

So that's why you stop right when a La Chapelle passes by - it's just before you straighten up and salute...

Red wine in this class is always an investment, it is still too early to predict La Chapelle 2012's potential as an investment, but with an early Robert Parker rating of 97 points, it must be said to be on the right track.

And it definitely doesn't hurt that the bottle's equipment looks like a true luxury product, with its own unique ID card, cork guarantee and a special website, just for owners.
