🍷 Tasting notes
Ferrière 2018 is made from 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc , and vinified with great precision: the plots are fermented separately in concrete, wood and amphora, and then matured for 18 months – partly in new French barrels and in amphora to preserve freshness.
The color is dark ruby red with violet tones. The nose opens with intense aromas of blackcurrant, cherry and blackberry , followed by layers upon layers of violets, leather, spices, cedar, graphite and dark cocoa .
In the mouth it is full-bodied and silky , with ripe tannins, fine acidity and an elegant mineral structure. The palate unfolds with plums, blueberries and dark cherries , flanked by subtle spices and a discreet sweetness from the barrel.
🍽️ Serving suggestions
Ferrière 2018 is a versatile wine that pairs beautifully with classic dishes of beef, lamb or game – preferably with herbs, mushrooms or red wine sauce. It also works excellently with grilled vegetables and mature cheeses.
🕰️ Storage potential
Ready to drink after an hour of decanting, but will develop further over the next 10–15 years. A safe choice for both Bordeaux nerds and curious beginners who want to experience Margaux at its most classic and nuanced.
