Hannibal is one of the most fascinating red wines we've tasted this year! Hannibal is a unique blend of red wine grapes that Bouchard Finlayson is the only winery in the world to use.
Hannibal is almost a historical wine; named after the Carthaginian general who led his South African elephants through France and Italy to conquer the Roman Empire. The symbolism is preserved when the South African wine is composed of
classic Italian and French grapes - like when the general Hannibal crossed the Pyrenees.
Hannibal
hits a note you didn't know existed and that just calls for more.
Hannibal is aged in French oak barrels for 16 months and the taste is incredibly special and seductive.

Already in the nose you can sense that this is not a wine like the others; cherries, flowers and hints of truffles and a bit of spice promise you an exciting experience.
In the glass, Hannibal is dark ruby red and already at the first sip you feel how the acidity plays with you, it is not a typical Shiraz, although that can also be tasted, but more towards Pinot Noir - and yet not. The aftertaste clearly bears the mark of Barbera and Pinot Noir, just as the Nebbiolo, which is planted on clay soil and takes on the character of the eastern Barolo, also leaves a strong fingerprint.
In short: Hannibal is a red wine that you must try, we guarantee you haven't tasted anything like it!
Try it with a good steak or roast, or hearty dishes from Italian cuisine.
