In this price range, it is unusual to find such good Burgundy!
Coteaux Bourguignons from the renowned producer, Lupe-Cholet, is something as rare as a price-conscious quality Burgundy. The area is known for its sought-after, but also quite expensive wines, but Lupe-Cholet shows that great wine can also be made for little money in Burgundy.
Coteaux Bourguignons is the new name for the appellation that was previously called Bourgogne Grand Ordinaire. Here, Pinot Noir must be added to Gamay, which is known from Beaujolais.
It produces fresh, elegant and fruit-driven wines.
The wine has a beautiful, light, ruby red color. The aroma is very open with notes of red cherries, currants, rose hips and a little licorice root. The taste is delicious, with good structure and ends with toasted notes and a little marzipan. Côteaux Bourguignons is perfect for a buffet or reception, for a picnic, for vegetable dishes (ratatouille) for grilled or roasted poultry, pork or veal.
Serve this Burgundy at 14-16 degrees with meat dishes or game, mature cheeses - and always enjoy it with good friends.
