Sassosolo - Bolgheri - I Luoghi

Somewhat off the coast of Corsica and located on the Italian west coast in the town of Castagneto Carducci lies I Luoghi. Here, between the sea and the more mountainous terrain behind, there are great conditions for wine production. The winery only dates back to 2000, when engineer Stefano Granata changed his life path and threw himself into his great passion – wine, together with Paola De Fusco. It happened out of pure love. Love for the land he grew up on and the wine he grew up with. Therefore, shirt and tie were exchanged for soil on his knees and grape juice on his hands with a beautiful, shared dream of building a vineyard and creating wines that are closely linked to Bolgheri. 

Authentic and uncompromising. And perhaps precisely because the motivation is to work with the land he loves, I Luoghi minimizes the use of pesticides and aims for maximum flavor experiences from vineyards cultivated with small yields, hand-picked grapes and by using gravity to transport the wine naturally around the wine cellar.

It is not a large winery - at least not in terms of physical size. The vineyard covers five hectares, of which only 3.5 hectares are dedicated to wine and a single hectare to olive trees. Granata and De Fusco achieve really high quality through dense planting, which gives a small yield per plant, but in return is so much better. Fermentation takes place in limited units of small clusters from the vineyard. If you want to taste typical, large wines from Bolgheri, Luoghi is a strong choice.
