Collection: Armangnac Castarede

Armagnac is France's own super traditional brandy. It dates back to the 15th century, about 200 years before Cognac was produced.

The Armagnac house Castarède was founded back in 1832 and is world-renowned as Armagnac's oldest trading house - even owned by the original family!
The Castaréde family is now in its 6th generation in the family dynasty and today Florence Castarède is at the helm of the traditional house.

The Castaréde family wine chateau is located in

Mauléon d'Armagnac and dating back to the 16th century, they command 16 hectares of vineyards in Bas Armagnac, widely recognized as Armagnac's best district.

Castaréde's specialty is Vintage - or vintage - Armagnac. In the cellars under the castle, Armagnac has been stored for the last many decades, so the oldest vintage available at the moment is from 1893!

Armagnac is aged in barrels and only bottled when it is ready for delivery to the retailer. The work is done by hand and each bottle is labeled with the bottling date.

At Castaréde, they typically age their Armagnac for a very long time in wooden barrels. XO and Hors d'Age are aged for 20 years, rather than the legally required 10 years. This results in complex and very mature Armagnacs.
