Collection: Château de Nages
"You don't inherit land from your ancestors, you borrow it from your children"
Château de Nages is located near the village of Caissargues, south of Nîmes and has been in Michel Gassier's family for four generations. He and his wife Cristina took over the property from his grandfather at the age of 33 and started making wine on the then 50 hectares of vineyards. At first he was not entirely satisfied with the result and it was not until 2006, when he met the famous Rhône oenologist Philippe Cambie (Winemaker of the Year 2010 - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate), that things took a turn.
Based on the motto "You don't inherit land from your ancestors, you borrow it from your children", he quickly set about producing the grapes according to organic principles. Château de Nages is today known as one of the best organic producers in the district (certified organic since 2011).
Michel Gassier is a believer in harvesting the grapes when they are optimally ripe, but during the vinification, which is adapted to each individual wine, the team tries to highlight the aroma, crispness and fruit character of the individual grape varieties. The organic wines from Chateau de Nages are characterized by their fruity, mineral and harmonious character. A very personal style for Costières de Nîmes!
