Collection: Fidora - Organic Wine from Veneto
In the small sleepy town of Montorio northeast of Verona in the Illasi Valley lies the Monte Tabor farm, home to the Fidora wine house.
Fidora has 4 properties in Veneto and the Valdobbiadene region, where they produce unique organic bubbles. Fidora converted to organic cultivation in 1974, making it the oldest organic winery in the Veneto region.
The winery Fidora's 160 ha. of land is divided into 4 properties in Valpolicella (Monte Tabor), Valpolicella Classico (Tenuta Fraune), Valdobbiadene (Collagù) and in the Veneto region (Civranetta). Only about 100 ha. are planted with vines, the rest is kept free of crops to ensure the area's biodiversity.
Today, the younger generation, with Emilio Fidora at the helm, is the one who will continue the legacy. Emilio's grandfather, Guido Fidora, converted to organic farming in 1974, the very first producer in Veneto. At that time, organic farming was not a widespread phenomenon, and there were no books or other studies on how to grow wine without the use of chemicals. Fidora learned it through experience. The most common perception in the 1970s was that chemicals were the "right" way to ensure high yields, despite the fact that wine had been produced without the use of chemicals in Veneto for thousands of years.
