Collection: Karl Schaefer

Karl Schaefer Logo Weingut Karl Schaefer was founded in 1843 by the physician Dr. Christian Schaefer, and it is his son, Karl Schaefer (one of the first to bottle wine in the area), who is the originator of the winery's current name.

Today, the 6th generation is at the helm, represented by Dr. Job von Nell and his wife Marianne von Nell. The winery is located near Bad Dürkheim, on the famous 'Weinstrasse' in the Palatinate and has approximately 17 hectares of vineyards. Among them are classified vineyards such as Fuchsmantel, Michelsberg and Spielberg, and Gerümpel, Pechstein, as well as Herrenberg and Weilberg.

Weingut Karl Schaefer today practices 100% organic production on the terraced vineyards, which are supported by beautiful stone walls. The cultivation takes place with full respect for the area's rare animals and plants, which is why manual work in the fields is prioritized.

Riesling currently makes up 85% of the area, but Weissburgunder, Chardonnay, Scheurebe, Gewürztraminer, Grauburgunder, Rieslaner and Muskateller for the whites, as well as Spätburgunder, Cabernet Sauvignon, Dornfelder and Merlot for the reds, are also grown.
