Camarcanda is the flagship of the Ca' Marcanda estate. Camarcanda is a very complex wine in both aroma and taste. Here you find very characteristic aromas of ripe, dark fruits and spicy nuances first in the mouth, but the softness of the wine and its delicate style come out very nicely with oxygenation.

The grapes are grown on the Bolgheri terraces at an altitude of 70-200 m. The soil here consists mainly of clay, limestone and sandstone. The high content of limestone gives the soil a very distinctive light color, which gives it its name of 'terre bianche' (white soil). It is a type of soil that is perfect for producing wines with great aging potential.

Each grape variety is fermented separately in steel tanks. After malolactic fermentation, the wines from the 3 grape varieties are blended and then matured for 18 months in new and one to two year old barriques (225 l.).

After bottling, the wine is further aged for 12 months before shipping. From the grape composition, one might expect a Bordeaux-style wine, but the special terroir of Maremma and especially Bolgheri with a mixture of structure and ripe fruitiness comes through nicely. It is an incredibly harmonious wine that can be enjoyed with delicate meat or vegetable dishes but also with, for example, lamb or game.
