Camus Pere & Fils Gevrey Chambertin 2019

Silky Gevrey with ripe fruit and garnet red color. The aroma entices with currants and cherries and continues to pull the nose back after every sip. Despite the intense fruit, the wine is fresh, with lively acidity and discreet minerality. The palate is elegantly integrated and spices the aftertaste without dominating.

It pairs perfectly with roast duck or mushroom dishes, where the wine's earthy tones really come through. A lively wine with plenty of character – both now and in the years to come.

Good Gevrey-Chambertin is hard to find – especially from the coveted Grand Cru vineyards. That's why it's a pleasure to present wine from Domaine Camus Père & Fils, who own 18 hectares in Gevrey, 2/3 of which are Grand Cru.

Hubert Camus and his daughter Marie-Édith work according to old traditions and focus exclusively on Pinot Noir (and a little Aligoté). Everything is harvested by hand, and the wines are fermented for 18-23 days and aged for 14-20 months in oak barrels. The result is classic, terroir-true Burgundy with depth and character from the clay and chalky soils.

The family's impressive Grand Cru portfolio includes Chambertin, Mazy, Latricières, Charmes and Mazoyères-Chambertin – and they also make Village Gevrey and Bourgogne Rouge. Domaine Camus is the essence of Gevrey – and completely offline: they don't even have a website.
