20 year old tawny from Dalva in world class! Amazing depth, great body, fatness and with aromas of hazelnuts, figs and orange peel. Long aftertaste that offers coffee, cinnamon and complexity. 20 year old tawny is first and foremost a style where the wine is mixed from barrels from different vintages – both younger and significantly older wines – so that you achieve a taste that stylistically matches a port that has been barrel aged for about two decades. This also ensures a high, uniform quality from year to year. At Dalva, only the best base wines are used for this and therefore this 20 year old tawny appears fabulously well-balanced. The style leans towards the full-bodied – but the wine never becomes heavy.

Dalva has been through a fantastic process over the last many years. Their port wines have only gotten better and better - at the same time they have a fantastic stock of tawnies and white ports from the last century. The house's declared ambition is to belong to the super league in Porto and the last decades have shown that this goal is moving closer and closer, while prices (thanks to an ailing Portuguese economy) are kept to a minimum. Dalva is, in short, an unadulterated best buy house today.
