Misty Cove Fifth Innings Pinot Noir

Fifth Innings Pinot Noir is made from grapes from Misty Cove's top vineyard, Fareham Lane Vineyard, where only the best bunches are used. The vineyard produces Pinot Noir that, in addition to having great aroma and fruit character, has more velvet and meatiness. Especially when, as at Misty Cove, they use the very best Pinot Noir clones: 777, 115, Abel and 667.

The grapes are hand-picked early in the morning, while it is still cool, and transported to the farm in small containers. The vinification itself takes place with as little intervention as possible. After a destemming and a light crushing, the grapes are macerated in small wooden barrels for a week before the actual fermentation begins, with the grapes' own yeast culture and continuous stirring. After a gentle pressing, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and maturation in 80% new and 20% one-year-old barriques. Only the wines from the best barriques are selected for the blending of Fifth Innings.

Fifth Innings Pinot Noir has a beautiful, deep, purple-red color. The aroma is immediate and complex, with delicious, crisp nuances of cherries and wild berries, but also more complex tones of cedar, dried herbs, tobacco and truffles. The taste is also very intense, with good harmony between structure, tannin, velvet and fruit sweetness. The wine ends with a long, complex and charming aftertaste. A seductive Pinot Noir very well made and harmonious. Serve it with pasta, risotto, poultry, pork, lamb and with warm vegetarian dishes or with grilled fish.
