"AUTHENTIC BAROLO"
Deep ruby red in colour and a delicate, aromatic scent with subtle hints of vanilla. The taste is classically full-bodied, round, velvety and intense, with elegant notes of licorice, spices and a discreet hint of tar.
The Barolo appellation takes its name from the village it comes from, and includes a number of other villages southwest of Alba. The wine is made from the dry and tannic Nebbiolo grape, and its history dates back to the mid-19th century, when the Savoy royal family was known to enjoy it. This is also where the wine's nickname "Wine of Kings, King of Wines" comes from.
The vineyards are located on south-southwest facing slopes, typically at altitudes between 200 and 400 metres above sea level, where they benefit from a balanced combination of sunlight and cooling breezes. This ensures the grapes reach full maturity over a long growing season, giving them a distinctive aromatic intensity and high acidity. These wines have become highly sought after, and as a result, Nebbiolo plantings doubled to just over 2000 hectares between 1980 and 2013.
Barolo DOCG wines must be aged for a minimum of three years and two months, of which a minimum of 18 months must be in oak barrels.
