"Shows the full potential of the Rhône also for the white wines"
- Ekstra Bladet, February 1, 2020
The name Mule Blanche (the white mule) comes from the fact that mules were used in the area for field work in the past, as they could handle the steep hills better than horses.
Mule Blanche has a beautiful, shiny, light, golden color. In the aroma you will find delicate, cool tones of white, wild flowers and more exotic tones of acacia flowers, grapes, nectarines and citrus fruits. The taste is bold with beautiful nuances of roses and white peaches. It ends very fresh and mineral with beautiful, rounded tannins.
Crozes Hermitage Blanc Domaine Mule Blanche is made from equal parts Marsanne and Roussanne, sourced from Domaine Mule Blanche's 7.5 hectares of organically grown vineyards. The soil here consists mainly of river deposits and rock deposits from the Ice Age.
The vines at Domaine Mule Blanche are between 40 and 60 years old and yield a maximum of 40 hl/ha. The grapes are hand-picked and transported to the cellar in small 25 kg boxes to avoid oxidation. Both the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place separately according to grape variety in wooden barrels.
The wine is then racked and matured for 8 months on its lees with continuous stirring, in a combination of 80% French wooden barrels, of which 25% are new, and 20% egg-shaped concrete tanks.
