Domaine Bourgogne-Devaux has quite a bit of land in Pommard (about 0.68 hectares), but they make the absolute best of it! The grape is of course Pinot Noir, and it comes from steep slopes with vines up to 50 years old. The harvest is done by hand and partially destemmed. The wine is aged for about 12 months in French oak, of which 10-20% are new barrels. Really nice wine!

Color: Ruby.
Aroma: White pepper, unripe raspberries and wet stones.
Tasting notes: Juicy, red fruit and real cinnamon, with moderate tannins and refined acidity.

Serving suggestion: Enjoy it slightly chilled (around 15 degrees), e.g. with roast duck, and preferably with a carafe if drunk young.

With a name like “Luc Bourgogne”, one might be tempted to say that he must have been born to make wine. The same thought comes to mind when you taste the elegant and airy wines from Bourgogne-Devaux! Luc is the fourth generation of the family, who make wine in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune and Pommard. Their area is not large, but the quality is, and we are happy to be able to add a Burgundy producer to the portfolio, where you get much more than you pay for. However, talking about these wines as “value-for-money” wines is doing them a disservice, because they are far more than that. This is decidedly great Burgundy, which needs no reservations about the price! Intense, perfumed and tremblingly resilient Pinot Noir at its very best.
