What is Tawny?
Tawny is the name for port wine that is a blend of several different vintages that have been aged for several years in casks. In Ramos Pinto 20 Years Tawny, the average age of the wines is 20 years, as the name suggests. Tawny refers to the color of the wine, which is brown, almost nutty, due to the long cask aging, something that is reflected in the taste.
The taste
Ramos Pinto 20 Years Tawny offers a vibrant aroma with an almost velvety softness. The aroma is rich in grapefruit, apricot, hazelnut and cocoa beans, with hints of vanilla.
It is soft and delicious in the mouth, with a rich, persistent taste. Where dried fruit, nuts and licorice finish the long aftertaste.
Serving
Ramos Pinto 20 Years Tawny is great as an aperitif, with rich cheeses or desserts that are not too sweet. TastingClub recommends a serving temperature of 14-18 degrees.
