Stauning Bastard Whiskey

The wind from the North Sea mixes blood with the desert of Mexico in this double-distilled rye whiskey, aged in old mezcal barrels. An illicit love affair with a gentle and exotic aftertaste.

Stauning Bastard is a rye whisky brewed from pure West Jutland ingredients, malted on the floor of our distillery and double-distilled over an open fire. After 3 years in new, charred American oak barrels, we have rounded off the whisky with 6 months in old mezcal barrels from the Mexican Oro de Oaxaca. The result is an elegant crossroad of a rye whisky, the likes of which you will not find anywhere else in the world.

Taste / Additional info

The cool wildness of the North Sea spiced with Mexican temperament: A scent of lemons and sweet tobacco mingles with mild smoke and wild flowers. Soft and sweet in the mouth with spicy notes of spices and burnt caramel.
