Vietti Barbera d'Asti La Crena

The vineyard "La Crena", where the Barbera grapes for this wine are grown, is located near the village of Agliano Terme in Asti (Nizza-Monferrato). The south-facing vineyard covers 6 hectares with a classic subsoil of clay and marl.

The field is also in transition to organic cultivation and the oldest vines were planted in 1932!

Fermentation takes place in open steel tanks, with built-in pumping over and agitation, and lasts approx. 2 weeks. It is followed by an additional week of cold maceration. The wine is then transferred to wooden barrels and undergoes malolactic fermentation. The wine matures in a combination of large wooden barrels and steel tanks for approx. 18 months.

The wine has a very concentrated and mature style, with lots of fruit nuances such as cherry and raspberry. The aroma reveals a bit of vanilla character from the wooden barrels. The taste is very classic Barbera, with a fantastic balance between fruit, velvet, structure and freshness.

Serve it with lamb, beef, veal or game, but also with poultry and mature blue cheeses.
