Derthona is a new white wine from Vietti. It comes from the Colli Tortonesi district, located in the eastern part of Piedmont, next door to the Gavi wines, and just north of Genoa.
Made from the local Timorasso grape, first mentioned in a Latin letter from the area in 1209.
A grape variety that often stands alone due to its exciting characteristics.
It is also a grape variety that is only planted in the Piedmont district.
Vinification…
Fermented for 4 weeks in a mixture of ceramic and wooden barrels.
Aged for 10 months in a mix of ceramic barrels and wooden barrels with our own yeast – stirred / 'batonnaged' daily.
Appearance…
Green/yellowish clear color.
Fragrance…
Peach and intense pear with undertones of sea buckthorn and acacia honey.
The honey notes intensify significantly after 2-3 years of aging.
Taste…
Notes from the fragrance stand out clearly.
Dry and warm in expression with a fine, elegant aftertaste.
Match…
Raw fish, hot and cold appetizers, bright intense meat dishes.
