Ca del Baio

Italy's Best Wine Producer! - 'Grower of the Year 2016' - Giulio Grasso, Ca' del Baio

'The Ca' del Baio line-up is extremely impressive and delightful. These are some of the best wines from Barbaresco!' - The Wine Advocate

With the maximum of 3 glasses in the food bible Gambero Rosso - and most recently the title of 'Winemaker of the Year' in the 2016 edition, expectations are at their highest when you pour a glass of Italian red wine from Ca' del Baio into the glass.

Expectations that are certainly met, so that not a single eye is dry; in this price range, we simply haven't tasted better in many years!

The small family business Ca' del Baio has plots near the village of Treiso (Valgrande, Marcarini) only 7 km. from Alba and partly in Barbaresco itself, more specifically the field "Asili" south of the village. "Asili" has the same status in the Barbaresco area as, for example, a Grand Cru field in Burgundy. Ca' del Baio's "Cantina" (vineyard) itself is located in Treiso, and although you can find modern winemaking equipment on the farm, the wine tradition in the family goes back to 1880.

Today, the company's wines are produced by the father Giulio Grasso and daughter Paola, who, after completing their oenology studies, now works in the cellar.
